Why This Internship Matters
When I first stepped into my internship, I thought I was ready. I had spent years in college learning strategies, making lesson plans, imagining what it would be like to be a teacher. I thought I knew. I was wrong.
The classroom is alive. The noise, the energy, the surprises. Checking papers late into the night, changing lessons on the spot, trying to reach every student. It takes more than your hands and feet. It tests your patience, your heart, and your voice. It teaches you to bend without breaking, to speak so others will listen, to keep going even when you feel drained. No textbook, no lecture, nothing could have taught me this.
What surprised me the most was the passion I saw in the teachers around me. Despite heavy workloads and little recognition, they arrived every day with energy and genuine love for their work. Seeing them made me realize that teaching is more than a job. It is a calling.
I felt proud, inspired, and a little humbled. I hope to one day bring that same dedication, that same love, and that same heart to my own classroom.
